ADVANCEMENT REQUIREMENTS
There are Seven Levels of achievement in the Children’s Program advancement system
This Children’s Program is unique in Westchester. It is based on the traditional Chinese Jing Mo (Chin Woo) Athletic Association’s promotion testing system, used by Master Wong Hon-Funn. The program was created by Mr.Gun Orachan. It is specifically tailored for Children. The lessons are taught in the traditional manner. Students learn movements and techniques each class and are required to practice on their own at home in order to learn something new. If the instructor feels that the student has not practiced enough, they will spend time in class practicing what they learned last until it is done correctly. The program provides the children with a strong foundation in Kung Fu and prepares them to enter the Black Sash Program. We teach them the martial arts code of ehtics (Mo Dat), Respect, Mental and Physical Discipline, Self-Confidence and Self-Defense. We encourage students never to engage in confrontation and seek peaceful solutions. Every class ends with a meditation, calming the mind, reflecting on what they learned and/or how to improve themselves. The student creed is recited at the end of meditation.
The advancement system serves the purpose of establishing standard requirements before advancement. This provides a method of systematically measuring the student’s level of progress and proficiency. It ensures that the student will develop a good foundation, enabling and preparing the student for more sophisticated and complicated maneuvers. This system is designed to develop students who can advance into the adult program.
Each level has a higher standard for the passing grade. Each level has mandatory forms and combinations to learn as well as physical requirements. Within each level there are Stripes, which Students would have to Achieve in Mini/Junior Mantis, Kids Shaolin and Kids Chinese MMA (Only Juniors and Up) that must be achieved before the student is eligible to take his/her test to advance to the next level. There is no time requirement within which a student must take an advancement exam. Mr. Orachan or any of the Senior Student Instructors will notify the student when they have fulfilled all of their requirements in order to take their advancement exam.
STUDENT CREED
The student creed was created for the children’s program to instill a proper attitude towards life and the practice of kung fu. It is recited at the end of every class after the Meditation;
In our Kid’s Kung Fu Program, children study the same curriculum as the adults. However, the more advanced methods are broken down into easy to learn subsets that children can pick up quickly, combined with fun and cardiovascular geared games to keep the student fit and engaged. Ages range from 5-16, with the older children (12 and over) given the option of attending adult classes. Some of the benefits our kids see are:
Improve ability to follow directions

Improve self discipline
Teach proper behavior, through respect and self control
